Jan Jesenius (né à Wrocław en 1566 - mort à Prague en 1621) était un médecin, homme politique et philosophe, membre d'une ancienne famille noble hongroise (Jeszenszky) originaire du village de Turčianske Jaseno, situé aujourd'hui en Slovaquie.
Il obtient un doctorat en philosophie et en médecine en 1591 après ses études de médecine dans les universités allemandes de Wittenberg et Leipzig puis de Padoue en Italie.
Il fut ensuite convoqué pour enseigner à l'université de Prague et devint le médecin particulier de l'empereur Rodolphe II.

He was then summoned to teach at the University of Prague and became the personal physician of Emperor Rudolph II.
