THE WORLD HERITAGE: THE LEDNICE-VALTICE AREA – A COMMON-THEME ISSUE
On the 7th September, 2016 the Ministry of  Industry and Trade  of the Czech Republic will  issue a commemorative postage stamp in the denomination of 16 CZK from the issue of The World Heritage: The Lednice-Valtice Area – a common-theme issue. The stamp portrays the most prominent part of the Lednice – Valtice Area.
The Lednice – Valtice Area is located at a place where a massive 12th-century borderline castle used to stand. The present-day area contains a chateau in the Romanticism style, a picturesque town and a gem of the landscaping art of unprecedented dimensions. The imaginary milestone marking the beginning of the long development of the entire area is the late 14th century when a share in the estate was obtained by the Liechtenstein family. The English landscape park has been the method used to shape the present-day area of almost 300 square kilometres. It resulted into a combination of Baroque architecture with the chateau rebuilt in the Neo-Gothic style and small buildings constructed in the Romanticism style. The Lednice – Valtice Area was listed as UNESCO World Heritage in 1996.
The author of the photo of  the  issue  is  the photographer Libor Sváček, the author of the FDC is the academic painter and graphic artist Jan Kavan. The engravings of FDC are the work of the graphic artist and engraver  Miloš Ondráček.
The stamp, sized 48 x 29 mm has been printed  by  the Post  Printing House in Prague  by multicoloured offset in printing sheets of 25 pcs.
There  will be  1 First Day Cover incl. commemorative cancellation. In the picture part of the cover the author reminds  The Lednice – Valtice Area as a place combining park architecture with building architecture. The cover has been printed by recess print from flat plates. In the handstamp is depicted a fragment of the motif used in the picture part of the FDC and the text: LEDNICE, 7.9.2016.
The stamp is valid  from 7th September, 2016.
